The Ford Explorer, The First SUV

The Ford Explorer SUV can place its ancestry back to the first suv, the  Bronco that first saw the light of day during the 1966 model year. The initial Bronco was decidedly compact and it proved popular for both off-roading as well as specific commercial applications.

Eventually, the Bronco evolved into a full-size vehicle based upon the F-Series pickup; then in 1984, it resurfaced as the Bronco II, one of the 1st compact sport-utility vehicles as we know them today. In 1990, the Bronco II became the Ford Explorer, literally sparking the modern SUV market.

One of the major advantages is the durable structural design which is very functional in carrying cargo and off-road applications. It has a body built for a truck but it still has the roomy, sound feel of a car.

The Ford Explorer SUV has three different options that include XLT, Eddie Bauer and Limited. The XLT comes with power window and door locks, cruise control, and 16” alloy rims. You can also include the Sport Package with even more options such as step-up bars and twenty-inch rims.

The next trim package is the Eddie Bauer which features seventeen-inch aluminum wheels, power driver seat, leather upholstery, manual third-row seat, Ford’s sync system and satellite radio. To have it all you will want to purchase the Explorer Limited which comes with rear parking sensors, power front passenger seat, perforated leather upholstery, eighteen-inch alloy wheels, power adjustable pedals, driver memory functions, and an upgraded audio system with in-dash CD changer and steering wheel mounted controls. If that’s not enough options for you, consider putting a proposal in to NASA for the space shuttle.

The 2010 Ford Explorer has a very comfortable ride thanks to the independent rear suspension. The wheels stay stable when traveling on rough pavement. This is the ultimate family SUV, you can haul your workload around town with plenty of room for all the kids softball supplies.

When it’s time to go camping or you want to go to the beach for the weekend the Ford Explorer is perfect for hauling your boat or trailer.
