What Does HHR Stand For? The HHR stands for Heritage High Roof, though a ton refer to the HHR as a Hip Hot Rod or a Heritage Hot Rod. The Chevy HHR was shown as a rival to Chrysler’s PT Cruiser, and although a few days late to the party, this car has seen a lot of success.
The HHR is designed to look like the 1949 Chevy Suburban in design and looks. The looks are common to each one, in position, and overall design. Many people have made mods to their Heritage High Roof to make it more like a classic 1949 Suburban, such as adding Chevrolet truck lettering to the sides of the car, and adding the 1949 hood emblem onto the hood of the Chevrolet HHR. HHR stands for Heritage High Roof.

Is the HHR a Car or SUV?
According to GM and Chevy, the Chevrolet HHR is classified as a light truck. This allows Chevy to offset its CAFE ratings, to allow the Chevrolet line of Pickup trucks to not be as fuel effective as would otherwise be required. The Chevy HHR is very fuel efficient, and will average up to 33 miles per gallon on a highway trip, with some users reporting fuel mileage up to 36 mpg. Some automotive magazines report the Chevrolet HHR to be a SUV as well. So although the Chevy HHR is based on the same frame and platform as a Chev Cobalt car, it is classified as a light truck.
How long will my Chevy HHR last?
As long as you perform basic maintenance as scheduled in your Chevy HHR owners manual, your Chevrolet HHR should last a very long time. I have seen a 2006 HHR with over 200,000 miles on it, running on the original engine as well. A few tips would be to use synthetic oil on your HHR oil changes, and be very strict about getting your oil changed on time. Perform regular maintenance, oil changes, service intervals, fluid changes, engine flushes, and your Chevrolet HHR will last you for many many years.
